Make the most of your family vacation with Trek Travel's new Zion National Park long weekend adventure. You will be based in Springdale, a delightful desert community located just outside the western entrance to the Park. Ride your bikes in spectacular Zion Canyon and explore the slot canyon of the Virgin River Narrows or ascend to breathtaking views at Angel's Landing or Observation Point. Along the way is delicious southwestern-inspired cuisine, family games, a cookout, horseback riding, Junior Ranger Programs and fun river-based activities. We believe this weekend has something special for everyone in your family, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Desert Pearl Inn | Springdale, UT
The Desert Pearl Inn offers an oasis of seclusion in the heart of Springdale. Each thoughtfully selected detail adds to the feeling of warmth and hospitality at this desert retreat. The beautiful wood seen throughout the grounds is old-growth Douglas fir and redwood reclaimed from the historic Lucin Cutoff railroad trestle that once spanned the north end of the Great Salt Lake. Your spacious room will overlook the Virgin River, and from your private terrace you can consider this ancient force that carved the canyon walls all around.

What is the weather going to be like?
Zion enjoys a desert climate, meaning generally quite warm during the day in the summer and early fall months (90-100F) but it can be cool at night (60-65F). Light layers and a wind/waterproof shell are good for the day. Warm layers are recommended for the cool nights and early mornings.
What are the daily rides like?
| Rider Type | 1 |
Average Daily Mileage | 16 |
| Terrain | undulating |
Average Daily Elevation | 700 |
On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. Zion is best suited for our Type 1 Riders. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about their physical ability may want to try our electric bike option–you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider. Type 2 Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is varied, with some relatively gentle riding along the floor of Zion Canyon on Day 1 in addition to some climbing on Day 4. The Day 3 ride is mostly downhill. See Itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.
What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?
On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included In The Trip Price for more information.
