What is the weather going to be like?

Late spring in the mountains is always beautiful, but the weather is quite unpredictable. Guests should expect cool nights (possible lows in the upper 40s in the extreme) and daytime highs in the 70s or 80s. Rain is also possible; guests should come prepared with wet-weather cycling clothes (jacket, arm/leg warmers, etc) and be prepared to dress in layers. With cool nighttime lows expected, a jacket/sweater is appropriate for the evening walks into downtown. During the fall, the weather is generally cooler with possible lows in the 30s and highs normally in the 60s. Rain is also a possibility. Check current weather forecast for details.

What are the daily rides like?

The activity level for this trip is Moderate. The average daily ride is about 30 miles, with 2,000 feet of climbing. The terrain is hilly, although some roads run through valleys and offer respites from climbing. On the mountain bike, you will be riding terrain that varies from gentle dirt roads to technical trails, with a variety of options available. Options are available for riding more or fewer miles, and remember your Trek Travel guides and support vehicle are always close behind! Please speak with your guides if you require additional ride options or activities.

What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?

Whether you want to ride 1 or 100 miles, Trek Travel has completely flexible daily options to meet your desires. We offer many non-riding options for riders who, perhaps, want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some non-riding options for this trip are:

  • Shopping
  • Hiking

Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip—please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included in the Trip Price section for more information.
