What is the weather going to be like? The weather is generally stable in early September, however daily temperatures can easily fluctuate from 50 to 80 degrees F or more. Layering is recommended in any mountain climate as things can change quickly. A wind/waterproof shell is recommended.
What are the daily rides like?
The activity level for this trip is Avid. The average daily ride is about 65 miles, with 7,100 feet of climbing. The terrain is mountainous and challenging, with sustained climbing in all kinds of weather. Each day, we will climb 2-3 major mountain passes made famous by the Tour de France and Vuelta a España. Your Trek Travel guides and support vehicle are always close behind! Please speak with your guides if you require additional ride options or activities. Options are available for riding more or fewer miles, and remember your Trek Travel guides and support vehicle are always close behind! Please speak with your guides if you require additional ride options or activities.
What are the options for a non-rider travel companion? This trip is a destination best suited to guests who want to cycle every day. Because of the terrain and/or remoteness of the hotels and riding routes, there are few, if any, non-riding options available. If a non-rider wants to accompany a rider guest on a trip in this destination, they would need to spend many hours in the van and/or at the hotels on the trip. Due to this, we strongly discourage non-riders from this destination, and encourage non-rider guests to book a trip to a destination where more non-rider activities are available.
