What is the weather going to be like?

Spring and fall in Tuscany usually bring clear, warm, and pleasant days with temperatures ranging from the mid–70s to high–80s. Evenings can be cooler, with temperatures in the mid–60s to mid–70s. Rain is always a possibility, so be prepared with the proper wet-weather gear in order to best enjoy your vacation.

What are the daily rides like?

The activity level for this trip is Moderate. The average daily ride is about 25 miles, with 2,200 feet of climbing. The terrain is consistently rolling, with quiet, narrow and winding roads. Many towns sit atop hills and although the ascents are not exceptionally steep, they are often upwards of 5km long. Options are available for riding more or fewer miles, and remember your Trek Travel guides and support vehicle are always close behind! Please speak with your guides if you require additional ride options or activities.

What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?

Whether you want to ride 1 or 100 miles, Trek Travel has completely flexible daily options to meet your desires. We offer many non-riding options for riders who, perhaps, want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some non-riding options for this trip are:

  • Private walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pienza
  • Explore and shop in the ancient walled fortresses of Monticchielo, Montalcino, Castello di Brolio, Monteriggioni
  • Therapeutic springs and spa in Bagno Vignoni
  • Visit the 12-century abbeys Abbazia di Sant’Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore
  • Visit the artisan Rampini Ceramiche, renown for his fine ceramics
  • Private Italian cooking class
  • Shopping and exploring in historic Siena
  • Opt to spend a day at the spa

Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip—please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included in the Trip Price section for more information.
