What is the weather going to be like?

The Bordeaux region enjoys a warm climate. September brings temperatures in the 70s to high 80s. However, rain is always a possibility, so be prepared with the proper rain gear in order to best enjoy your vacation.

What are the daily rides like?

The activity level for this trip is Easy. The average daily ride is about 35 miles, with 700 feet of climbing. The terrain is highlighted by three distinct areas of the Bordeaux region—St. Emilion, Graves and Médoc. St. Emilion is characterized by rolling terrain with some short, steep climbs (100-500m). As you move into the appélations of Graves and Médoc the terrain becomes mostly flat. Options are available for riding more or fewer miles, and remember your Trek Travel guides and support vehicle are always close behind! Please speak with your guides if you require additional ride options or activities.

What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?

Whether you want to ride 1 or 100 miles, Trek Travel has completely flexible daily options to meet your desires. We offer many non-riding options for riders who, perhaps, want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some non-riding options for this trip are:

  • Private Wine School in Saint Emilion
  • Private “Art of Blending” class at Château Lynch-Bages
  • Participation in the ultra-exclusive Saint Emilion Wine Festival
  • Optional tour of Europe’s largest underground, monolithic church
  • Private visit and tasting at Château Teyssier, Château Smith Haut
  • Lafitte, Château Mouton Rothschild and many other châteaux
  • Shopping in UNESCO World Heritage site of St. Emilion
  • Optional spa services at Château Grand Barrail
  • Optional cooking class (must be arranged prior to the trip start)
  • Optional vinotherapy treatment at Les Sources de Caudalie

Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip—please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included in the Trip Price section for more information.
