What are the age requirements for this trip?
The minimum age to join this trip is 6 years. Kids under 9 years old and up to 80lbs must ride a pedal trailer with their parents on a hybrid. Kids over 9 years old or over 80lbs can ride their own bike if they are able to do so safely.
What is the weather going to be like?
Zion has a desert climate, meaning generally much warmer during the day than at night. If you are joining our April trip, expect highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 40s. June can be very warm, with daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and lows in the 60s. Precipitation chances are generally low, but we recommend bringing raingear just in case. Light layers are a good idea to prepare for the wide range of temperatures and a light jacket is good for the cooler evenings.
What are the daily rides like?

Average Daily Mileage | 15

On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. Zion Family Long Weekend is best suited for our Type 1 Riders. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about their physical ability may want to try our electric bike option–you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider. Type 2 Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is varied, with some relatively gentle riding along the floor of Zion Canyon on Day 1 in addition to some climbing on Day 4. The Day 3 ride is mostly downhill. See Itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.
What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?
On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included In The Trip Price for more information.
