What is the weather going to be like?
The average temperatures are (55F-65F) with evening temperatures dropping 5-10 degrees cooler. What is the terrain like?
| Rider Type | 4 |
Average Daily Mileage | 60 |
| Terrain | mountainous | Average Daily Elevation | 4,300 |
On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. Mallorca Ride Camp is best suited for our Type 4 Riders. Type 4+ Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is highlighted by stunning views, quiet roads and challenging terrain. We will climb an average of 2-3 major climbs per day. See Itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options. Back to the top...
Why Mallorca?
A cyclist's Shangri-La in the Mediterranean. Rising from the crystal blue water of the Mediterranean Sea is the sun-kissed island of Mallorca. "Mar y Montana" - The combination of formidable peaks and tranquil turquoise waters has long been a destination for tourists, and has now developed into a year-round training destination for professional and avid cyclists. The island provides varied and challenging cycling: shaded long climbs into the dramatic Tramuntana mountains that give way to breathtaking views of the sea, before descending on roads that follow the natural curves of the mountains; coastal routes that take you through medieval villages and fast-paced rides among the vineyards, citrus groves, olive trees and ancient farmhouses that dominate the interior of the island. The Trek Travel ride camp will take you on these amazing routes that have made Mallorca the premier training spot for pro teams the world over! Back to the top...
What are the daily rides like?
Mallorca offers a variety of terrain to build your base. Our daily rides will average 60 miles and 4470 ft of elevation per day (with the exception of the first and last day at an average of only 25 miles and 1100 ft). You'll enjoy a gentle warm-up on your first day through the Tramauntana foothills. The following day you'll begin to gain some elevation climbing up Col de Soller and then along the rugged Tramauntana coast. By mid-week you'll be riding the cliff topped coastal road through the Tramauntana mountains into Galilea. Day 4 features a ride through the eastern plains and a climb up Lluc Major. The Day 5 ride is perhaps the most beautiful and challenging as you'll descend down then ride up Sa Calobra, the 2nd deepest gorge in Europe. Then you'll ride up Col de Honor and Col de Puig Major. The following day is the longest ride of the week. You'll climb passed the Monastery of Lluc and out onto the Formentor peninsula. The views of the Mediterranean Sea are spectacular from this high ridge road. Your final day of riding is a gentle cool down into the Mallorcan countryside. Back to the top...
How is a Ride Camp different than on a regular Trek Travel vacation?
Our Ride Camps are unlike our other vacations. The focus of our Ride Camps is to build your base miles for your cycling season. As a result our rides are focused on the physical dimension and not the site seeing. We also assume that guests are more self-sufficient than our 'all-inclusive' style regular trips. Each morning you'll begin your ride between 8-9am and return sometime between 2-5pm depending on the length of the ride and your ability level. Our guides will create riding groups that are based on a riding pace. You can choose to ride with a group or head off on your own. If you choose to ride solo, you will not have a guide with you. A support vehicle will be circulating through the riders but due to the variety of riding abilities on this vacation you may only see the van once on your ride. Please carry the appropriate layers, food and equipment. Once you return to the hotel the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish. Your guides will ensure that your bike is in excellent condition. You will dine in the Reads hotel “Blues bistro” each evening You can instead choose to upgrade to the Michelin starred Bacchus restaurant, this and other non-riding activities that you'd like to enjoy can be organized through the hotel concierge and are at your own expense. Back to the top...
Can I bring a non-rider travel companion?
You are more than welcome to bring a non-riding companion. The price varies according to the trip date. Please refer to the trip page for specific pricing for a double-occupancy room ($1299-1599). Your non-riding companion will have their mornings free to explore while you are riding your bike. You'll be able to reconnect in the afternoon and you can shape your day as you wish. Our guides will spend their day supporting the riders, however they will have a number of suggested activities for non-riders. Back to the top...
What are the options for a non-rider travel companion?
In addition to being a cycling Mecca, Mallorca is a vacation destination. There are a number of non-riding activities to do in the area and you can also upgrade your lifestyle experience at the hotel. Some of these activities have additional costs (noted with a *) and can be arranged through the hotel's concierge. Here are some suggestions:
- Visit the beach town or old town of Soller, the Moorish town of Valldemossa, the 12th Century Monastery of LLuc and Palma just to name a few.
- Cooking class including a 2 course lunch *
- Master Chef experience: full day in a Michelin starred kitchen, body massage in the Spa, lunch and light evening meal *

Wow’s From Our Guests & More Photos
When we asked our guests what their favorite WOW’s were from their Mallorca Ride Camp vacations, here is what they said…
I LOVED the ride camp concept. I like staying in an outstanding hotel and not having to move. I liked having the trip focused on the riding and not social events. Trek travel should have MORE ride camps choices. Ride Camps are for cyclists. —Rodrigo
This trip was one of the best vacations I have taken. Good balance of exercise and downtime.—David
Read's Hotel a gorgeous location, food and facilities excellent, scenery breathtaking and routes very challenging. Highly recommend!—Charles
